Abdomi­no­plasty is suitable for women and men with sagging skin and/​or excess tissue in the abdominal area. Typical reasons include signi­ficant weight loss, pregnancy or a natural loss of skin elasticity.

In a mini abdomi­no­plasty, only the lower abdominal area below the navel is tightened. A full abdomi­no­plasty also includes tightening the upper abdominal region and, if necessary, reposi­tioning the navel. Which method is right for you will be deter­mined indivi­dually during the consultation.

Dr Mazzei takes the time to discuss your medical history, wishes and anato­mical condi­tions. Together, you will develop a perso­na­lised treatment plan, which will also include possible combi­na­tions with liposuction or muscle tightening.

The operation is usually performed under general anaes­thesia by experi­enced anaes­the­sio­lo­gists in a certified surgical centre. In individual cases, twilight sleep may also be used for minor corrections.
Depending on the extent of the procedure, a tummy tuck takes between 2 and 4 hours. If combined with liposuction, the operation time may be extended accordingly.
The first phase of healing takes about two weeks. During this time, physical exertion should be avoided and a special compression garment should be worn. Complete healing can take several months. Follow-up appoint­ments will accompany you through all phases of recovery.
Light activities can usually be resumed after 10–14 days. Sports and physi­cally demanding work should not be resumed until at least 8 weeks have passed.
The scar runs horizon­tally across the lower abdomen and can usually be completely covered by clothing. With proper aftercare and care, it will fade signi­fi­cantly over time.
