Implant replacement in Zurich-Seefeld: safe, experienced and personalised at Aesthetics Medical

An implant replacement may be necessary or desirable for aesthetic or medical reasons, for example, if your personal preferences change, you desire a new size or shape, you experience capsular fibrosis or material fatigue, or after many years of wearing implants. Replacement may also be advisable if the implant has shifted or if asymmetry has developed.

At Aesthetics Medical in Zurich, Dr Ranieri Mazzei, FMH specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery with over 25 years of experience, is at your side. At our modern clinic on Utoquai, you will receive individual, trustworthy and highly qualified treatment from the initial consultation to aftercare.

Frequently asked questions about implant replacement

An implant replacement can be performed in cases of capsular fibrosis, implant rupture, change in shape, slippage, or upon request for a new size or shape. Even after many years of wearing implants, some patients wish to have them replaced for aesthetic optimisation.

During a personal consultation, Dr Mazzei will analyse your current situation, existing implants, your wishes and anatomical conditions. This will result in a personalised treatment plan with specific recommendations regarding surgical technique, implant type and procedure.

Please note: The consultation costs £150. These costs will be offset against any subsequent treatment.

We prefer to work with Motiva® implants, a premium Swiss product. These implants feature a particularly soft, cohesive gel for a natural feel, as well as an integrated RFID chip for secure tracking. We also offer other renowned brands on request. Special requests may incur an additional charge.

The procedure is performed either under twilight sedation or general anaesthesia, tailored to your individual needs. The anaesthesia is administered by experienced specialists in a certified environment.

If possible, access is gained via the existing scar, usually in the crease under the breast. In individual cases, a new incision may be necessary, e.g. in the case of severe scar tissue or anatomical peculiarities. Our goal is always to achieve the most inconspicuous result possible.

The operation takes approximately 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the complexity and any additional measures such as tightening.

Thanks to high-quality implants such as Motiva®, careful placement and many years of surgical experience, we achieve a very natural look and feel. Tension in the first few days is normal and subsides quickly.

The healing phase is similar to that of a first operation. Rest, wearing a special bra, regular check-ups. Patients are usually able to return to work after a few days, and sporting activities can be resumed after 6–8 weeks.

Depending on how things go, you should wait at least 6 to 8 weeks before doing any sporty stuff like jogging or weight training.

You will receive a supportive compression bra and will be closely monitored by our team. Follow-up appointments and behavioural recommendations will be arranged individually with you.

Possible risks include infection, capsular fibrosis, wound healing disorders or changes in shape. Thanks to our experience and modern technology, complications are rare and usually easily treatable.

Modern implants are very durable. Replacement is only necessary in the event of changes, complications or upon request.

Yes. Inform your radiologist about any implants you have. MRI and mammography can usually be performed without any problems.

The costs depend on the complexity of the operation, the type of implant, the technique used and any additional individual requests. You will receive a clear, transparent quote during a personal consultation.
