Upper eyelid lift in Zurich-Seefeld for an open, alert look at Aesthetics Medical

A fresh, relaxed facial expression is often directly associated with a clear gaze. Drooping eyelids can not only be aesthetically unappealing, but can also restrict the field of vision and make those affected feel tired.

Through careful upper eyelid lifting (blepharoplasty), we can achieve a harmonious eye area in our practice in Zurich, without intrusive changes, but with a naturally rejuvenated result.

In an outpatient procedure, we remove excess skin and, if necessary, fatty tissue along the natural crease of the eyelid. The result: an open, clear gaze and significantly improved eye aesthetics without an artificial expression.

Frequently asked questions about upper eyelid lift

An upper eyelid lift is ideal for people with sagging eyelid skin, drooping eyelids or a tired, strained appearance. Functional limitations such as narrowing of the field of vision can also be treated. The prerequisite is good health and realistic expectations.

The procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anaesthetic, or under twilight sedation if desired. After careful marking, a precise incision is made in the natural crease of the eyelid. Excess skin, fat and, if necessary, muscle tissue are removed. The wound is then sutured with micro-fine stitches. The operation takes about 60 minutes.

Blood-thinning medication should be discontinued a few days before the procedure after consulting your doctor. Nicotine consumption should be avoided so as not to impair wound healing. Contact lenses should not be worn in the days following the procedure.

After the procedure, swelling, bruising or tension may occur. These usually subside within a few days. The stitches are removed after about 5–7 days. Cooling and rest support the healing process. Patients are usually able to resume their normal social activities after about a week.

Once the wound has healed well, usually after about 10 to 14 days, you can start wearing make-up again. We recommend using skin-friendly, hypoallergenic products.

The initial effect is immediately visible, with the final result developing over the following 4 to 6 weeks. The scar is virtually invisible in the natural crease of the eyelid.

As with any surgical procedure, temporary swelling, bruising, dryness or a slight feeling of tightness may occur. Serious complications such as infections, asymmetries or eyelid malpositions are rare and can be minimised by careful technique.

The results are usually long-lasting, with many patients benefiting for 10 to 15 years or longer. Repeat surgery is usually only necessary after many years, if at all.

Most patients are fully socially presentable again after about a week. Slight swelling can be concealed with glasses or make-up if necessary.

If there is a proven medical indication, such as visual field restriction, the costs may be covered by your health insurance provider. We will assist you in preparing the necessary documentation.

On request, upper eyelid lifting can be combined with lower eyelid lifting, an eyebrow lift or skin rejuvenation procedures. We would be happy to advise you on the individual options available to you in a personal consultation.
