Polynucleotides (PN) are purified DNA fragments injected into the skin as a form of biostimulation. In this context, biostimulation means supporting the skin’s own regeneration. The treatment aims to improve skin hydration, quality and texture.
Polynucleotides are particularly suitable for sensitive, sun-damaged or mature skin, including the eye area. In an initial consultation, we clarify whether the treatment suits your skin and which treatment plan makes sense, before you decide.

What are polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are purified DNA fragments used in aesthetic medicine for biostimulation. They are intended to support the skin’s natural repair and regeneration processes.
The product is injected precisely into the middle layer of the dermis, often using a mesotherapy technique with many fine injections. There, polynucleotides support the activity of fibroblasts, the cells that produce collagen and elastin.
When the natural production of collagen and elastin is stimulated, the skin can appear firmer, smoother and more even. Treatment is normally planned as a series of several sessions.

How does the treatment work and how long does it take?
After a detailed consultation, the skin is cleansed and, if needed, locally anaesthetised. The preparation is then administered by injection, frequently using a mesotherapy technique. The injections take about 20–30 minutes; please allow around an hour for the whole appointment.
Is the treatment painful, and is anaesthesia used?
How the injections feel varies from person to person. If needed, a local anaesthetic is applied beforehand to make the treatment more comfortable. Overall, polynucleotide injections are considered well tolerated.
What risks and side effects are possible?
The treatment is generally well tolerated. Mild swelling, redness or small localised bruises may occur and usually subside quickly. Possible limitations and risks are discussed with you by a doctor beforehand.
What should I consider before the treatment?
First, we clarify in an initial consultation whether polynucleotides are suitable for your skin, and we agree the treatment plan. Before your appointment, you receive clear instructions on medication and sun exposure. If anything else applies in your case, we will tell you in person.
What should I consider after the treatment?
For the first 24–48 hours, please avoid wearing make-up, using a sauna or exercising. Protect the treated skin consistently from the sun, and cool it gently if needed. You will receive further aftercare advice after the session.
How long does recovery take after the treatment?
As a rule, no real downtime is to be expected. Minor swelling, redness or bruising may be briefly visible and usually fades quickly. For a short time, you should avoid make-up, saunas and exercise, as described in the aftercare advice.

When do results become visible?
First changes usually become noticeable after 2–4 weeks. Polynucleotides are applied over several consecutive sessions, and the appearance of the skin continues to develop in the course of the series. At your follow-up appointments, we assess the changes in your skin together with you.
How long do the results last?
After the course of treatment, the result lasts around 6–12 months, depending on your skin condition and lifestyle. Maintenance sessions are possible at these intervals to keep up the effect. We agree a suitable time for them with you.
How many sessions are usually needed?
Usually, 3–4 sessions are recommended, each 2–3 weeks apart. To maintain the effect, a refresher treatment can follow every 6–12 months. We decide together with you how many sessions you need.
