- Personal: exclusively your body's own, autologous cells.
- Forward-looking: once collected, cells are preserved for possible later applications.
- Individual: every application is medically reassessed and tailored to your personal goals.
- Swiss quality standards: processing by a certified laboratory in Switzerland to GMP standard, with medical planning and treatment.
- Long-term thinking: banking creates a personal biological reserve for future options.
The Stem Cells Protocol at Aesthetics Medical combines the collection of your body's own cells with specialised processing, controlled cryopreservation and the option of later aesthetic applications. It uses exclusively autologous cells – cells that come from your own body and can be used for you again after medical assessment. They are obtained from a small amount of your own fatty tissue: the stromal vascular fraction (SVF), a component of fatty tissue containing regenerative cell elements.
You are not just investing in a single application – you are investing in your own biological reserves.
Stem cells are capable of self-renewal and play an important role in natural repair and regeneration processes. The Stem Cells Protocol uses this biological potential within a personalised aesthetic concept: the aim is to support the skin's own renewal processes rather than to add volume from outside. The focus is not on a standardised treatment but on your individual starting point. Age, skin quality, medical history, cell quality and personal goals influence both the planning and the possible development of the results.
Surgical Procedure
This treatment is a surgical procedure performed under medical direction. Procedure, anaesthesia and aftercare are discussed in detail during your personal consultation.

Treatment Areas
Which areas make sense for you is agreed at the consultation.
Face
Support for skin quality and firmness: the treatment may be considered for reduced firmness, fine lines and tired-looking skin.
Neck and Décolleté
Signs of ageing appear early on the neck and décolleté. The treatment can support skin quality in these areas.
Body
The treatment can also be used for areas of the body with reduced skin firmness, for example scars and burns. Here the preparation is injected into the subcutaneous fat layer to restore volume and contour.
Combination with Other Treatments
The treatment can be combined with other aesthetic treatments, for example nanofat.
What is Stem Cells Banking?
Stem Cells Banking refers to the collection, specialised processing and long-term cryopreservation of your body's own cells. A small amount of fatty tissue is removed in a specialised clinic under local anaesthesia and sedation; sedation and monitoring are provided by the medical team. Processing is carried out by a certified laboratory in Switzerland, working to strict Swiss medical standards; there the cells are stored deep-frozen under controlled conditions – for up to 10 years.
What is obtained is the stromal vascular fraction (SVF), a component of fatty tissue containing regenerative cell elements. The preparation is placed into the intended area using very fine needles. SVF acts as a messenger for your own cells; the result develops gradually.
Banking makes it possible to reassess the stored cells medically at a later date and – provided this is medically indicated, technically available and legally permissible – to use them for individually planned aesthetic applications.
- Autologous: cells from your own fatty tissue (SVF)
- Collection under local anaesthesia and sedation in a specialised clinic
- Processed by a certified laboratory in Switzerland, to GMP standard
- Cryopreservation and storage for up to 10 years
- Placed using very fine needles
- Sealed sample with full traceability
Why bank early?
Biological tissue changes over the course of life. Storing cells earlier can therefore offer the advantage of preserving cells from the time of collection for possible later options. Suitability and the best timing are assessed personally.
Autologous Means Your Own
No donor cells from other people are used in this protocol. Collection, banking and any later application relate to your own cells. Even with autologous cells, a medical assessment, careful information and compliance with all safety requirements are necessary. As only your own material is used, no foreign substances are involved.
Personal Cell Reserve
Cryopreservation keeps the collected cells available for possible later applications. Fat collection is a one-time appointment; later reinjections use your stored cells.
Controlled Storage
Cryopreservation is carried out by a certified and authorised laboratory in Switzerland, for up to 10 years. Storage period, sample volume, release processes, transport, later availability and all contractual terms are explained transparently before the programme begins.
Why Aesthetics Medical in Zurich?
Aesthetics Medical combines personal aesthetic consultation with long-term, medically responsible planning. With the Stem Cells Protocol, the focus is not on short-term promises but on individuality, transparency and a carefully coordinated process.
Carried Out by a Doctor
The treatment is carried out by Dr. med. (I) Ranieri Mazzei. He assesses your skin, your history and your goals and explains what the procedure can and cannot achieve.
Personal Suitability Assessment
Whether the treatment is suitable for you is assessed medically, based on your skin condition, your goals, your medical history and any contraindications. You receive an individually developed protocol instead of a standard treatment.
Processed by a Certified Laboratory
Your fatty tissue is sent for processing to a certified laboratory in Switzerland, working to strict Swiss medical standards.
Full Traceability
From collection to reinjection, your sample is clearly identified and tracked under a strict protocol. On the day of reinjection, the seal is opened in front of you.
Transparency on Process, Limits and Costs
The process, its limits and all costs are set out transparently before the programme begins.
Long-Term Support
We support you with possible later reinjections – discreetly and in a central location on Utoquai in Zurich. You receive instructions for the first few days and know whom to contact with questions.
How does the Stem Cells Protocol work?
Personal Consultation and Pre-Assessment
In a detailed conversation, we discuss your aesthetic goals, your medical history and your general suitability for the protocol. We clarify previous conditions, medication and possible contraindications; this may include blood tests and further diagnostic steps.
Tissue Collection
Collection takes place in a specialised clinic. On the day of treatment the area is cleansed and numbed with local anaesthesia; sedation and monitoring are provided by the medical team. A small amount of fatty tissue is removed. Fat collection is a one-time appointment.
Processing and Banking
The collected tissue is handed over to a certified laboratory in Switzerland in a dedicated transfer kit with a tamper-evident seal, labelled with your name and the date of collection. There the cells are processed to GMP standard and cryopreserved – for up to 10 years, until you decide on a reinjection.
Reinjection
At the agreed appointment, the seal on your sample is opened in front of you. The preparation is then placed into the intended area using very fine needles. Amount and distribution follow your findings.
Aftercare
We check the area and give you instructions for the first few days. Recovery takes around 1–2 days, mainly relating to the donor site.
Long-Term Support
Stored cells can be requested again for later reinjections. Every later application requires a current medical indication and renewed information.
A session takes less than one hour. Two sessions are needed: fat collection, which is required only once in a lifetime, and reinjection at a separate appointment. Follow-up appointments are arranged where they are useful.
Banking and Later Reinjections
Banking forms the basis of the long-term concept. Once your cells are stored, future reinjections can be planned in line with your personal rejuvenation goals.
Cryopreserved autologous cells are made available for a targeted aesthetic application according to the intended release and processing procedures. Treatment area, technique, cell quantity and accompanying measures are not fixed in advance but decided by the doctor.
On the day of reinjection, the seal on your sample is opened in front of you. This lets you see directly that it is unmistakably your own material. Processing follows a strict protocol with full traceability from collection through to reinjection.
Benefits at a Glance
- Supports the skin's natural renewal capacity
- May contribute to a fresher, more radiant complexion
- May help reduce signs of fatigue and dullness
- Supports the skin's resilience and capacity for repair
- May help support skin firmness, elasticity and hydration
- Long-term documentation and individually planned repeat applications
Long-Term Concept
Future reinjections can become part of a long-term rejuvenation journey after a renewed medical indication. The effect usually lasts up to about a year; after that, the treatment can be repeated using your stored cells.
Realistic Expectations
The effect and the development of the results are individual and cannot be guaranteed. Visible changes can take time and depend, among other things, on skin quality, age, lifestyle, starting point and the medical protocol chosen.
Medical and Legal Requirement
Our SVF is an autologous transplant: your own fatty tissue is processed mechanically, without enzymes, and returned to the subcutaneous fat layer. Under the Swiss Transplantation Act, the preparation and storage of autologous transplants are notified to Swissmedic. Later use of stored cells is only possible if, at that time, it is medically justifiable, technically available and permissible under the applicable regulatory provisions. Banking does not create an automatic entitlement to any particular later application.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are stem cells and where do they come from?
Stem cells are special cells capable of self-renewal. They play an important role in the body's natural repair and regeneration processes. In the Stem Cells Protocol they come exclusively from your own fatty tissue: what is obtained is the stromal vascular fraction (SVF), a component of fatty tissue containing regenerative cell elements. No donor cells from other people are used.
How does the treatment work and how long does it take?
After the medical consultation, a small amount of fatty tissue is removed in a specialised clinic under local anaesthesia and sedation; sedation and monitoring are provided by the medical team. It is processed by a certified laboratory in Switzerland, after which the preparation is placed into the intended area at a separate appointment. A session takes less than one hour; fat collection is only needed once in a lifetime.
Is the treatment painful, and is anaesthesia used?
Local anaesthesia and sedation are used for the removal of fatty tissue; sedation and monitoring are provided by the medical team. Placement is done with very fine needles and is usually felt as minimally uncomfortable.
What risks and contraindications are there?
Redness, swelling, tenderness or small bruises may occur temporarily at the donor or injection site. These reactions usually subside within a few days. As only your own material is used, reactions to foreign substances do not apply. Contraindications are assessed individually during the consultation, based on your medical history. Contraindications, alternatives and possible side effects are discussed in detail before every step.
What should I consider before and after the treatment?
Tell us about medication, allergies and relevant previous conditions, in particular about blood-thinning medication. Ahead of the planned appointment you receive clear instructions on how to prepare. Recovery takes around 1–2 days, mainly relating to the donor site. We will give you detailed guidance on sauna, solarium, sport and sun exposure during your consultation.
When do results become visible and how long do they last?
Usually within 2–4 weeks; the result develops gradually. The effect usually lasts up to about a year. After that, the treatment can be repeated using your stored cells, where this makes medical sense. A specific result cannot be guaranteed.
Show all 11 questions
How long can my cells be stored?
Your processed cells can be stored cryopreserved at the certified laboratory in Switzerland for up to 10 years. The storage conditions are set out specifically in the personal consultation and in the agreement with the laboratory.
How can I be sure it is my own material?
Your sample is handed over to the laboratory in a dedicated transfer kit with a tamper-evident seal, labelled with your name and the date. On the day of reinjection, this seal is opened in front of you. Processing follows a strict protocol with full traceability from collection through to reinjection.
Is banking a guarantee of later treatments?
No. A reinjection can take place after a renewed medical assessment, release of the sample and individual planning. Every future application requires a new medical indication and must be technically available and legally permissible at that time.
Who is the treatment suitable for?
The treatment may be considered for reduced firmness, fine lines or tired-looking skin. Your suitability is assessed medically; with certain previous conditions or medication it is not suitable.
How much does the Stem Cells Protocol cost?
Stem Cells Banking costs from CHF 39’900 and a later Stem Cells Reinjection from CHF 5’900. These are starting prices; the final total price depends on the medical scope, anaesthesia, laboratory services, the storage agreement, the later application and any additional services required individually.
