Regenerative lifting treatment with PRP autologous blood therapy

What is PRP autologous blood therapy? The regenerative lifting treatment with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) at Aesthetics Medical in Zurich uses the healing power of your own blood for natural skin rejuvenation and hair growth. This proven method activates the body's own regeneration processes.

How does the treatment work? Platelet-rich plasma, which contains highly concentrated growth factors, is extracted from your own blood by centrifugation. These are injected into the skin in a targeted manner and start the natural regeneration process from within.

Areas of application: Skin improvement on the face, treatment of acne scars, reduction of wrinkles, stimulation of hair growth in cases of hair loss, and general skin revitalization.

Treatment duration: Approximately 60 minutes with immediate suitability for everyday use.

What is PRP autologous blood therapy?

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is an innovative treatment method that utilizes the body's natural healing and regenerative powers. The procedure is based on the concentration of thrombocytes (blood platelets) from the patient's own blood, which contain a variety of growth factors.

The science behind PRP:

  1. Platelet concentration: Centrifugation separates the blood into its components. The plasma obtained contains 3-5 times more platelets than normal blood.
  2. Growth factors: The concentrated platelets contain over 30 different growth factors, including:
    • PDGF (Platelet-Derived Growth Factor)
    • TGF-β (Transforming Growth Factor)
    • VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor)
    • IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor)
  3. Activation of regeneration: These growth factors stimulate:
    • Collagen and elastin synthesis
    • Cell proliferation and migration
    • Angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels)
    • Tissue regeneration
  4. Natural healing: The body reacts to the injection as it would to an injury and initiates intensified healing processes.

Medical basis: PRP was originally used in orthopedics and sports medicine to treat tendon and muscle injuries. Aesthetic applications use the same regenerative principles for skin rejuvenation.

What is the treatment procedure?

PRP treatment is a precise medical process:

1. Detailed consultation

Detailed medical history and explanation of the treatment. Discussion of your individual goals and expectations, as well as information about realistic results.

2. Blood collection

Approximately 20-60 ml of blood is drawn from a vein in the arm, similar to a routine blood test. The blood is collected in special tubes.

3. Centrifugation

The blood is separated in a medical centrifuge at a controlled speed. This process takes about 10-15 minutes and concentrates the platelets.

4. PRP extraction

The golden yellow PRP obtained is extracted under sterile conditions and prepared for injection.

5. Precise injection

The PRP is injected into the specific areas of skin to be treated using special, very thin needles. If necessary, an anesthetic cream can be applied beforehand.

6. Aftercare

Brief observation and information about what to do after the treatment.

The entire treatment is performed by Dr. David Cerny, our specialist, and takes about one hour.

PRP is particularly effective for:

  • Androgenetic alopecia (hereditary hair loss)
  • Diffuse hair loss in women and men
  • Circular hair loss (alopecia areata)
  • Thinning, weak hair

Prerequisite: The hair follicles must still be present. PRP can reactivate dormant follicles, but cannot restore completely destroyed ones.

The procedure is divided into several steps:

  1. Informative consultation with our specialist
  2. Blood sampling of 20-60 ml from the arm vein
  3. Centrifugation to separate and concentrate the platelets
  4. Sterile extraction of the obtained PRP
  5. Precise injection with very thin needles
  6. Follow-up and rules of conduct

The treatment is virtually painless. If necessary, an anesthetic cream can be applied 30 minutes beforehand.

First 24 hours:

  • No sports or intense physical activity
  • No sauna or steam baths
  • Avoid sun exposure
  • Do not rub or massage treated areas

First week:

  • No thermal laser treatments
  • Avoid intense UV radiation
  • For hair treatment: Wash hair gently

Optimal treatment plan: 3 treatments at 4-week intervals for best results. The full result is visible after 6 weeks, as this is how long the body's own regeneration mechanism takes.

Normal reactions (24-48 hours):

  • Slight swelling at injection sites
  • Minimal redness
  • Pink discoloration of the skin
  • Slight sensitivity to pressure

Rare side effects:

  • Small bruises (hematomas) - disappear after a few days
  • For lower eyelid treatment: Slightly longer swelling
  • Very rare: Infection (if aftercare instructions are not followed)

Important: Since the material is derived from the patient's own body, allergic reactions are virtually impossible.

No, there is no downtime. You can:

  • Go back to work immediately
  • Carry out normal everyday activities
  • Cover up small bruises with makeup
  • Wear makeup again the next day

Only sports and saunas should be avoided on the first day.

The results develop gradually:

  • 2-4 weeks: First improvements visible
  • 6-8 weeks: Maximum effect achieved
  • 6-12 months: Long-lasting improvement
  • Refresh: Recommended after 6-12 months

Since PRP triggers genuine regeneration, the results are more sustainable than with many other treatments.

Absolute contraindications:

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Active cancer
  • Severe blood clotting disorders
  • Taking blood thinners
  • Active skin infections in the treatment area

  • Wrinkle treatments: Different approaches complement each other
  • Skin care: Special serums enhance regeneration

Yes, "vampire facelift" is a popular marketing term for PRP autologous blood therapy. The name comes from the use of the patient's own blood, but has nothing to do with vampires.
